The student worker for the ENC archives reports directly to the Archives Administrator while still participating in larger library staff related activities. The student worker is responsible for accessioning and processing items that are physically in the ENC archives according to the standard archival system. If trained or has interest, the student worker may also work with digitized archival items, completing metadata entry for those items. Skills necessary include: data entry, experience with Microsoft Office applications, and an ability to keep items in order. Typical duties every day include:
This student assistant for ILL is responsible to receive and manage requests for our items made by libraries not in our network and does the same for our patrons who may need items from other libraries, outside of our network. They ensure the items reach the correct patron or library, as well as record and manage statistics of all these transactions and exchanges during the fiscal year. Typical duties would include: provide customer service to patrons, retrieve materials from Nease Library and process them to send out to other libraries, process in-coming materials, keyboarding, photocopying, and scanning.
The student worker in this position will check in and organize newspapers, magazines, journals, and microfiche to which the library subscribes. This enables the supervisor to concentrate on problem subscriptions, conversations with vendors, and other higher level functions.
